Unofficial KNY mobile fighting game

Kimetsu Fight - Demon Slayer is a free-to-play action game from ZAY Dev. This fighting title looks and feels like an unofficial mobile port of the fighting game, Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – The Hinokami Chronicles. Fight in a 3D arena and use the colorful breathing styles of its characters, inspired by the hit anime and manga series.

With standard remapped controls, Kimetsu Fight - Demon Slayer is an intuitive game. Unfortunately, it sorely lacks content, like a game in its early stages. Other similar games include Wrestling Fighting Game 3D and MORTAL KOMBAT: The Ultimate Fighting Game.

Play as a demon slayer

In Kimetsu Fight - Demon Slayer, you get to play as one of the characters from the eponymous series. Built using Unity, it has a full 3D rendering, both for the character models and the environment. It also features an intuitive control system, although the attacks are not as diverse as in other KnY titles. You only have one attack, one skill, and a directional pad at your disposal.

As soon as you open the app, you are greeted with an artful home screen. It then has two game modes: Versus Mode and Story. Unfortunately, this section only works as a facade, and clicking on the Story Mode will reveal that this section remains under development. Similarly, Versus Mode is not much better. Out of six characters, you can only play as Tanjiro and can only fight against Zenitsu.

Aside from the very limited content that it offers, the game is also not fully fleshed out. For example, there’s only one arena available. Although rendered fully in 3D, assets such as trees tend to disappear or turn into pitch-black elements. The same quality extends to the combat, with Tanjiro and Zenitsu looking like they’re whacking sticks with colored effects. Camera angles also change automatically, which affects orientation and aim.

An unfinished game

While undoubtedly built on an inspired game premise, Kimetsu Fight - Demon Slayer still needs a lot of work in order to be playable and enjoyable for players. It offers a Story Mode that is not even playable, causing frustration for players and fans of the players. Similarly, checking out the Versus Mode also ends in disappointment. Out of six character portraits, only one is playable.
